Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Fall is in the air. School is back in session and we are only a few days away from our All Parish Picnic. It is always great to gather the entire parish together to celebrate and share in food, games, and fellowship. Like any parish we have our struggles and challenges, but we are incredibly blessed to be a parish community and I find it hard to believe I am now in my 11th year at St. Brendan parish. Time sure flies! (And yes, I always have fun!)

Pope Francis’ visit to our country is less than a week away. This is a very important time for us to pray for him. He will share words of wisdom and encouragement with us, as well as words to challenge us to rise up and be the People of God we are called to be. I encourage you to follow his trip and his messages. You can always DVR his homilies and speeches and watch them later. I personally am very excited about his visit but didn’t feel called to fly back and join him.

Our Faith Formation programs are gearing up to start in a few weeks. Please surround those with prayer as we have the privilege and duty to form a new generation in the faith.

May God who is rich in mercy bless you and your families in abundance!

in Christ,
Fr. Jim
